Frequently Asked Questions

Counselling

Counselling is a collaboration between the counsellor and the client to ensure that the therapeutic process is of the highest importance to both parties.

Counselling is a safe space. It cannot be emphasised enough the value that is placed on confidentiality. Every client has the right to privacy, therefore, anything shared throughout the therapeutic process will stay between the counsellor and the client.

In rare instances, the confidentiality clause can be overwritten by the South African law. These instances would be in the case that the client is a danger to him/herself or others, when a minor (a person under 18 years) is abused or in the case where the counsellor is subpoenaed and legally required to provide the court with information.
